Do you use Children’s Centres, Youth Hubs or the Gateways?
You need to read about possible changes to these buildings and share your thoughts.
We all know that Kent County Council need to make significant budget cuts. They are facing huge increases in costs but have less money to spend. As part of this, they are reviewing how they use their buildings, and they want to hear your thoughts before they make any decisions.
The Council owns, and uses, hundreds of buildings across Kent. They are used for all sorts of services such as the Gateways, Adult Education, Children’s Centres and Youth Hubs.
They are currently considering three main questions:
-
How do they handle the rising cost of maintaining their buildings?
-
Can they identify any savings?
-
How do they reduce their carbon footprint?
The buildings that they are reviewing include:
-
Adult Education
-
Gateways
-
Children’s Centres
-
Youth Hubs
-
Community Services for Adults with Learning Disabilities
-
Public Health services for children and families
They want to hear your thoughts on their proposals which include:
-
Closing some buildings but trying to keep buildings in areas that need them most
-
Bringing services together into the same buildings
-
Delivering more services in the community and not through buildings
-
Ensuring services and information are also online
There is much more information about why they need to make changes and their ideas about how to change on their website.
