Transport for children and young people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
A review of the transport that enables children and young people who have SEND (Special Needs and Disabilities) to attend school has just been published.
The review came about following the well publicised failures in the service earlier this year.
Eleven areas have been reviewed including;
- the impact on people who use and rely on the service
- communications and consultation with families
- how decisions came to be decided
- how the tending process was undertaken
- how the revamp was planned
- how risks of problems were prepared for
- what processes were followed
- the governance
- the communications and interactions between departments responsible
- how the short term changes post failure have worked.
The report which you can read here details serious issues in the way the changes to the service were handled.
A number of recommendations have been made including ensuring that the service listens to people who use and are impacted by any changes to the service.
