What difference have we made this month?

A highlight this month has been helping a young pregnant woman, who was homeless, to get the dental care that she needed.
homeless and pregnant

It’s not just individual people that contact us; often we hear from professionals who need our expertise to help them find a solution for their patients.

In this instance, the nurse knew that her patient’s poor dental health was affecting her pregnancy, but she didn’t know how to secure an appointment with a dentist.

We helped her understand what to do next

We gave her information about Kent Dental Helpline which meant that she was able to see a dentist and get the care that she needed.

The same nurse also told us that many of her homeless patients struggle to register with a GP. We gave her some of our ‘Register with a GP today' cards, which people can use to show they do not need a fixed abode or formal identification to see a GP.
